The ULM PPK Task Force Holds WASAKA Socialization: “Creating a Safe and Aware Campus Against Violence”

Banjarmasin – The PPK (Violence Prevention and Handling) Task Force of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held the “WASAKA Socialization: Creating a Safe and Aware Campus Against Violence” on Tuesday (November 18, 2025) at the Idham Zarkasi Auditorium, ULM Faculty of Law. This activity involved all ULM educational staff as a form of shared commitment to creating a safe, comfortable, and violence-free campus environment.

The event featured two keynote speakers: Police Commissioner Amalia Afifi, S.H., M.M., Ps. The event was attended by lecturers, educational staff, and security personnel from ULM, including Noer Komari, S.Si., M.Kes., Head of Sub-Directorate 4 of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Kalimantan Regional Police.

In her presentation, the Head of the PPK Task Force, Siti Mauliana Hairina, S.IP., M.A., explained that hundreds of forms of violence have occurred within ULM over the past year. This is a major concern for the PPK Task Force, ensuring they are able to address and prevent recurrence of this violence.

She further explained that this event also served as an introduction to the transformation of the PPK Task Force (Prevention and Handling of Violence), which was originally the PPKS Task Force (Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence). Therefore, it is necessary to conduct outreach to the academic community regarding its broader roles and authorities.

“The task force can receive two to three reports per day. Therefore, we need to continuously disseminate information about the task force’s new roles and authorities so that all campus residents understand the reporting and handling mechanisms,” she explained.

The Head of the ULM PPK Task Force emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, conducive, and inclusive campus environment by encouraging the entire academic community to be aware of and care about the situation around them.

Commissioner Amalia Afifi echoed this sentiment. She highlighted the increasing phenomenon of violence against women and children. She stated that cases of violence often go unnoticed, but the actual number is much higher.

“Violence against women and children is like the tip of an iceberg. On the surface, it looks small, but once you dig deeper, the cases are numerous,” she said.

This outreach activity is expected to be an important step in building collective awareness among the ULM academic community to actively participate in violence prevention. This demonstrates ULM’s commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and diversity-respecting campus environment. The event closed with an interactive discussion session, which demonstrated the high level of attention of participants to the issue of protecting academics from various forms of violence.
