ULM’s Faculty of Agriculture and HSU Regency Government Strengthen Synergy for Research-Based Sustainable Agricultural Development
BANJARBARU – The Faculty of Agriculture of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has officially established a strategic partnership with the North Hulu Sungai Regency (HSU) Government to strengthen the development of the sustainable agricultural sector. The signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) took place in Banjarbaru on Monday (November 10, 2025).
The event was attended by HSU Deputy Regent Hero Setiawan, along with the Head of the HSU Regency Agriculture Office, Muhammad Haridi. The event was attended by the Dean of the ULM Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Ir. Akhmad Rizali Saidy, S.P., M.Ag.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., along with academics from the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry.
In his remarks, Deputy Regent Hero Setiawan emphasized that the agricultural sector is the foundation of HSU’s economy and needs to be strengthened through innovation and applied research.
“The synergy with Lambung Mangkurat University is an important step in generating new ideas, applied research, and increasing farmer productivity at HSU,” he said.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at ULM, Prof. Rizalli Saydi, expressed his appreciation for the HSU Regency Government’s initiative to involve universities as partners in regional development. He stated that universities must be present not only as centers of knowledge, but also as drivers in the implementation of research in the field.
“We are ready to provide full support through field assistance, research, and strengthening farmer capacity so that this collaboration will have a real impact on community welfare,” he said.
In addition to the signing of the MoU, the event also included discussions and sharing sessions featuring representatives from ULM academics and the HSU Regency Government. Topics discussed included the development of superior regional commodities, agricultural technology innovation, and strategies for improving the quality of the livestock sector.
This collaboration is expected to pave the way for the transformation of agriculture in North Hulu Sungai towards a more modern, independent, and sustainable system. Through research- and innovation-based collaboration, ULM affirms its commitment to supporting regional development and strengthening the contribution of science to community welfare.
