Student Organization Development Program (PPK ORMAWA) of the Faculty of Medicine, ULM (FKIK) Selected as a National Visitation by Belmawa
BANJARMASIN – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was selected as one of the universities to receive a visit as part of the 2025 Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) Visitation, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, on November 6–7, 2025.
The visitation was led by the Belmawa team consisting of Ery Hidayat, S.T., M.T., Dr. Tipri Rose Kartika, M.M., and Afandi Malatas Siregar, A.Md. The visit was conducted as part of the monitoring, evaluation, and appreciation process for the implementation of the PPK Ormawa program at the participating universities.
On the first day, the event began with an opening and an interview session with the PPK Ormawa implementation team. On this occasion, the PPK Ormawa team from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) presented the achievements of their flagship program, “BUNGAS Women’s School,” held in Karang Intan Village, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. This program demonstrates the contribution of ULM students to empowering rural communities, particularly women, through capacity building, entrepreneurship training, and sustainable management of local resources.
The supervising lecturer for the PPK Ormawa team from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Agianto, S.Kep., Ns., M.N.S., Ph.D., explained that student involvement in this program not only focuses on community service activities but also serves as a means of cross-disciplinary learning that strengthens students’ competencies in various fields.
“Through PPK Ormawa, we want to improve students’ competencies in both soft and hard skills. Furthermore, they are also trained to empower rural communities to optimally develop local potential,” he said.
On the second day, the Belmawa team, accompanied by ULM Vice Rector III, Dr. Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si., directly observed various community empowerment activities carried out by the Student Organization Development Team (PPK Ormawa) of the Faculty of Medicine, ULM (FKIK), and the Student Organization Development Team (PPK Ormawa). The residents of the “BUNGAS Women’s School” program in Karang Intan Village enthusiastically displayed the results of the program. Some of the innovative products produced include paving blocks made from plastic waste and used oil, nutritious fish cakes made from snakehead fish, plant fertilizer made from rice husks, fish farming in buckets, and a simple water purification system.
The Vice Rector III of ULM expressed his appreciation for the students and supervising lecturers who have demonstrated high dedication in implementing the PPK Ormawa program.
“We hope that students and lecturers will continue to play an active role in implementing their innovative ideas in the community. This Ormawa capacity building program is an integral part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and a tangible manifestation of ULM’s contribution to regional development,” said Rusmin.
The visitation concluded with a tour of the fertilizer processing site and the presentation of mementos from the PPK Ormawa DPM FKIK ULM Team to the Belmawa Visitation Team. The implementation of the “BUNGAS Women’s School” program from DPM FKIK ULM further confirms ULM’s commitment to supporting student capacity development while strengthening the role of higher education in empowering rural communities.
