The 2025 National Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN) XVIII Officially Closes: ULM Wins Third Place
Banjarbaru – The closing ceremony of the 2025 National Student Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN) XVIII was held at the ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium on Thursday evening (October 9, 2025). The event was attended by the finalists and invited guests and featured a performance by the South Kalimantan art form, Madihin.
The event opened with a Quran recitation by Prof. K.H. Said Agil Husin Al Munawar, MA., followed by a report on the activities by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni of ULM, Dr. Muhammad Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Si. In his report, this year’s MTQMN attracted 1,506 participants from 194 universities across Indonesia, competing in 15 MTQMN XVIII categories.
At the closing ceremony, the Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Prof. K.H. Said Agil Husin Al Munawar, MA., announced the list of winners in the XVIII National Student Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran competition. Lambung Mangkurat University, which also hosted the event, won third place in the 2025 MTQMN XVIII.
The overall ranking of the 2025 MTQMN XVIII winners is as follows: Lambung Mangkurat University, South Kalimantan:

- 2nd Place: Malang State University
- 3rd Place: Lambung Mangkurat University
- 4th Place: Gadjah Mada University
- 5th Place: Yogyakarta State University
- 6th Place: University of North Sumatra
- 7th Place: Syiah Kuala University
- 8th Place: Brawijaya University
- 9th Place: Islamic University of Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari
- 10th Place: Hasanuddin University

Lambung Mangkurat University and Gadjah Mada University had the same final total score. However, according to the provisions stated in the MTQMN XVIII Guidelines, the winner is determined based on the highest score in the Quran Recitation category. This achievement is certainly a source of pride for ULM, which also had the opportunity to host this year’s MTQMN (National Qualifications and Religious Qualifications).
The MTQMN is expected to serve as a momentum to strengthen ties and disseminate the values ​​of the Quran.
In his farewell remarks, ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad, S.E., M.Si., expressed his pride in the dedication of the entire committee and his appreciation to the participants who enlivened the event with sportsmanship and a spirit of Islamic propagation.
“On behalf of Lambung Mangkurat University, I would like to thank all parties who contributed to the success of the 2025 MTQMN XVIII. May this event serve as a means to ground the Quran in the university environment and make it a guide for the younger generation,” said the ULM Rector.
Through the successful implementation of the 2025 MTQMN XVIII, Lambung Mangkurat University affirms its commitment to continue playing an active role in integrating Quranic values into academic and social life.
This activity serves not only as a competition, but also as a means to shape the character of students with noble morals, strengthen inter-university bonds, and make a real contribution to the nation’s spiritual and moral progress.
“May the light of the Quran radiated from Banua South Kalimantan inspire all campus personnel in Indonesia to continue to act, acquire knowledge, and uphold morals for the sake of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” concluded the Rector.
