Holding an Essay Writing Workshop, HIMAKUA Encourages Student Literacy
Banjarbaru — As part of the TENOCULTURE 7.0 series of events, the Aquaculture Student Association (HIMAKUA) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University successfully held an Essay Writing Workshop entitled “The Art of Champion Essay Execution: The Secret to Transforming Ideas into Powerful Words.” The event took place on Saturday (October 4, 2025) in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Hall, attended by dozens of participants from various classes.
The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Dr. Ir. H. Untung Bijaksana, MP. In his remarks, he expressed his high appreciation for the positive student-initiated activity and emphasized the importance of essay writing skills as a means of critical, creative, and communicative thinking for students.
The event began with remarks from the person in charge of the event, M. Hanif Aziz Aziz, who emphasized the importance of writing as a form of self-actualization. The Head of the Organizing Committee, M. Iqro Nur Amin, continued by expressing his gratitude for the support of all parties who helped make this event possible.
“This workshop is here so that students can understand the concrete steps in transforming ideas into engaging and meaningful writing. Hopefully, after this, many young writers from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) will emerge who are ready to compete in various essay competitions,” he said.
The Head of the Aquaculture Student Association, Ahmad Solihin, hopes this activity will foster a spirit of literacy and help students hone their ability to translate ideas into inspiring writing.
Through this workshop, participants are guided to understand the creative process of essay writing, from finding ideas, developing an outline, to executing it into a compelling and meaningful work. This activity is also expected to provide a platform for students to prepare for various essay competitions at both the regional and national levels.
This Essay Writing Workshop is part of the HIMAKUA FPIK ULM’s commitment to providing an innovative, collaborative, and inspiring learning space for students. Through activities like this, students are expected to become a young generation of critical thinkers and actively contribute to the development of science.
