ULM Inaugurates 28 New Dentists, Achieving Top Achievements in National Competency Exam

Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Dentistry, Lambung Mangkurat University (FKG ULM) held its 39th Dentist Oath-taking Ceremony. Twenty-eight new dentists were officially inaugurated and sworn in by the Dean of FKG ULM, Prof. Dr. drg. Maharani Laillyza Apriasari, Sp.PM., at the ULM Banjarmasin Multipurpose Building on Wednesday (September 10, 2025).

The event was attended by ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., the FKG ULM senate, the leadership of the Gusti Hasan Aman Dental and Oral Hospital, representatives from Ulin Banjarmasin Regional Hospital, the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, and the entire FKG ULM academic community.

In this dental oath-taking ceremony, FKG ULM recorded extraordinary achievements. One of the graduates, drg. Indah Lestari Puspaningtias achieved the highest score on the national Dentist Competency Examination with a score of 99.17. Furthermore, of the 28 graduates sworn in, 22 graduated cum laude.

According to Prof. Dr. drg. Maharani Laillyza Apriasari, Sp.PM, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at ULM, this achievement demonstrates the continuing improvement in the quality of education at the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) and its ability to compete nationally. The Rector of ULM also emphasized that this achievement is an added value that enhances ULM’s reputation.

“The achievements of Drg. Indah Lestari and the FKG graduates are a source of extraordinary pride for ULM. The Faculty of Dentistry has become one of the most popular faculties, with consistently improving student achievement, both nationally and internationally,” said the Rector.

The Rector added that the university continues to strive to improve facilities and infrastructure, including plans to build a dedicated lecture building for the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) to further enhance its independence in implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education.

Furthermore, the Director of Gusti Hasan Aman Dental Hospital, drg. Teguh Hadianto, Sp.KG., also reminded the new graduates not to rest on their laurels.

“You are the nation’s future generation. Don’t stop here. As ULM’s motto goes, ‘Waja Sampai Kaputing’ (We Will Go From Beginning to End), keep striving until the end,” he urged.

As the graduate with the highest competency exam score, drg. Indah stepped forward to deliver a short speech, expressing her gratitude as a new dentist.

“This journey has been full of challenges, but with the support of our parents, lecturers, and family, we have reached this point. Today’s oath is an answered prayer and a realized dream,” she said.

With the inauguration of 28 new dentists, ULM further strengthens its position as a leading university in the healthcare sector. The academic achievements of ULM’s Faculty of Dentistry graduates are tangible evidence of the university’s contribution to producing professional and globally competitive healthcare workers.
