BUNGAS Women’s School Presents Arguci at MTs Muhammadiyah Karang Intan
Karang Intan – The Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of Lambung Mangkurat University (UNL) continued its BUNGAS Women’s School program with its 7th Himung Class. The event, held at MTs Muhammadiyah Karang Intan on Saturday (September 6, 2025), raised the theme of local culture, with a focus on introducing the traditional Banjar craft, arguci.
The event was attended by 7th and 8th grade students, the implementing team, and the PPK Ormawa Task Force of the FKIK ULM (Unclear University of Technology). ULM partnered with Nanang Galuh Intan of Banjar Regency to present a presentation on the history, philosophical meaning of motifs, innovative products, and strategies for preserving arguci as a cultural heritage of South Kalimantan.
One of the representatives, Nanang Galuh Intan of Banjar Regency, emphasized the importance of maintaining the sustainability of this craft. “Arguci is not just a craft, but also an identity and heritage that we must preserve for our children and grandchildren,” he said.
The presentation was interactive, allowing students not only to listen but also to actively participate in the discussion. Following the presentation, the committee held a short quiz challenging students to recall key points. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident as many students scrambled to answer.
Furthermore, students had the opportunity to experience the process of making arguci (a traditional Banjarese craft) firsthand. This activity provided them with a unique experience, witnessing how traditional Banjarese crafts are produced.
The event concluded with a documentation session with students, teachers, and the implementation team. Through this cultural introduction, ULM hopes that the students of MTs Muhammadiyah Karang Intan will grow in pride in Banjarese culture and play an active role in preserving this valuable ancestral heritage.
