MARTAPURA – A team of lecturers and students from the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) implemented the Compulsory Lecturer Service Program (PDWA) at Sungai Lakum 1 Public Elementary School, Banjar Regency. The program took place on August 13, 20, 22, and 27, and September 3, 2025, with a focus on improving teachers’ skills in designing wetland-based student worksheets (LKS).

The PDWA team leader, Herti Prastitasari, M.Pd, explained that the training aimed to train teachers to develop learning materials that not only align with the curriculum but also encourage students to be more critical. “Hopefully, this activity will be beneficial for teachers and will improve students’ critical thinking skills, which are crucial in everyday life,” she said.

During the training, ULM lecturers guided teachers in creating student worksheets that integrated local environmental conditions with the subject matter. The mentoring focused on Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) and Mathematics, ensuring that the resulting worksheets (LKS) could be directly used in classroom learning.

The principal of Sungai Lakum 1 Elementary School, Nazaruddin, MPd, expressed his appreciation for the ULM team’s presence. “Thank you for this activity. We hope it will improve teachers’ skills, particularly in developing worksheets that encourage students to be more critical,” he said.

Although several teachers were unable to attend, the activity was still lively. The material presented was listened to attentively, followed by collaborative worksheet preparation exercises between ULM lecturers and teachers.

This program is part of ULM’s commitment to strengthening wetland-based educational innovation while supporting the improvement of the quality of learning in elementary schools.
