Impactful Community Service Program: ULM Students and Residents Hold Mutual Cooperation to Celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Tamban
TAMBAN – To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Community Service Program (KKN) students from the Communication Studies Program at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Banjarmasin collaborated with officials and the community of Purwosari Satu Village to hold a community service activity to clean the village field on Monday (August 4, 2025).
This activity involved not only Purwosari Satu residents but also participants from Purwosari Baru, Purwosari Dua, Sidorejo, and Tamban Bangun Villages. The cleaning effort included trimming weeds, tidying up public facilities, and cleaning the area around the field in preparation for the Independence Day celebrations.
The head of the committee, Raja Rafli, stated that this activity has a meaning beyond simply cleaning the environment.
“This mutual cooperation is a symbol of unity and nationalism in the lead-up to the Independence Day celebrations. We hope that this community service program will grow closer to the students and that the field will remain well-maintained, not just used for important holidays,” he said.
This collaborative spirit was also appreciated by the Tamban Sub-district Head, Agus Supriadi, S.Sos., who officially opened the event.
“As August 17th approaches, this isn’t just about cleanliness, but also about togetherness and enthusiasm in welcoming independence,” he said.
Support also came from the Tamban Police Chief, First Inspector Ripai Sutanto, S.H., who assessed that the presence of the ULM students had a positive impact on the community.
“Thank you for the energy and enthusiasm of our fellow ULM Community Service Program students. This contribution means a lot to us and we hope it proves beneficial,” he said.
Residents are optimistic that activities like this can encourage a sustainable movement to maintain village cleanliness while strengthening ties between residents. ULM, through the Community Service Program, has once again demonstrated its role as a strategic partner in the community in building a healthy, tidy, and togetherness-filled environment.
