Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory Center Conducts Crime Scene Investigation, ULM Emphasizes Transparency

Banjarmasin — The tragic fire at the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Rectorate Building on July 28th has raised concerns for the ULM academic community and the wider community. However, despite this incident, the entire ULM academic community is expected to remain resilient, united, and supportive. ULM leadership, specifically the Rector and all staff, are committed to providing transparency to the ULM academic community and the wider community.

Following up on this incident, today (August 1, 2025), a comprehensive crime scene investigation (TKP) was conducted by a team from the Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) who came from Surabaya, accompanied by the South Kalimantan Regional Police Inafis Team, and with full support from the Banjarmasin City Police. Accompanied by Vice Rector I Dr. According to Dr. Iwan Aflanie, the event also featured the Head of the Finance and General Affairs Bureau, Ahmad Iskandar, along with staff and the ULM security and cleaning team.

This comprehensive and professional inspection aims to dispel speculation and rumors circulating in the community. In addition to conducting on-site analysis, the joint team also interviewed security personnel and cleaning staff on duty at the time of the incident.

Vice Rector I of ULM, Dr. Iwan Aflanie, fully supported the ongoing investigation process. He also stated that the university fully supports an objective investigation.

“We are demonstrating our professionalism in dealing with an undesirable situation. Here, let’s just say this is a disaster. We are professional, and we at Lambung Mangkurat University are open to the police investigation,” said Dr. Iwan Aflanie.

Furthermore, Dr. Iwan added that ULM is committed to demonstrating transparency to the wider public to dispel wild opinions circulating amidst the disaster ULM is experiencing.

“Hopefully, this will dispel the various rumors circulating once we have the objective results of this investigation,” he added.
