IAAS LC ULM Encourages Villager Independence Through Simple Business Model Workshop
The Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) Team from the IAAS LC Faculty of Agriculture at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an internal workshop on developing a simple business model entitled “Sanggar Tani.” This workshop is a concrete effort to increase the potential and independence of the Mandi Angin Timur Village community, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The workshop took place in Mandi Angin Timur Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency on Sunday (July 20, 2025). In this workshop, villagers were provided with an in-depth understanding of how to design a business effectively. Armed with this knowledge, they are expected to develop the businesses they have started into more structured and sustainable businesses.
“We are fully confident that Mandi Angin Timur Village has tremendous potential, both in the agricultural sector with its diverse commodities and in the creative and handicraft sectors,” said Zaifan, Head of the PPK Ormawa Team at IAAS LC ULM, enthusiastically.
Zaifan explained that his team often encounters business and farmer groups that are already well-established but still struggle with thorough business planning and long-term development strategies.
“Through this workshop, we want to lay a strong foundation and equip them with a business mindset, so they can be more independent, resilient, and thrive,” he said.
The workshop material was delivered by Dr. Untung Santoso, S.Si., M.S., a lecturer from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (ULM). With a proven track record in agribusiness and entrepreneurship, Untung delivered the material in a way that was easily understood by all participants, including farmers and local business owners.
Zaifan hopes this workshop will be a significant catalyst for accelerating economic growth and improving welfare in Mandi Angin Timur Village. The material, which provided comprehensive knowledge about simple business models, was presented using practical and applicable methods and is expected to encourage village residents to be more confident and better prepared to manage and develop local potential.
Abundant local potential certainly presents a business opportunity that is not only financially profitable but also has a positive social and economic impact on the entire community. This workshop, organized by the IAAS LC ULM, seeks to foster synergy between academia and the community to continuously stimulate and catalyze the development of independent, advanced, and prosperous villages.
The International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Sciences Local Committee (IAAS LC) ULM is one of the student organizations that successfully received funding from the 2025 Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK). Their main program is titled “SATRIA MUDA: Revitalizing the Farmer’s Studio Institution to Increase Capacity and Regenerate Farmers in Developing the Agribusiness Potential of East Mandiangin Village.”
