ULM’s Faculty of Agriculture Officially Sends Off 327 Students for Community Service Program (KKN) to Build Villages in Tapin and South Hulu Sungai Regency

Banjarbaru – The Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) officially sent off its students for the 40-day Community Service Program (KKN) to Build Villages, ending on September 3, 2025. The 327 students will be spread across nine sub-districts in 23 villages in Tapin Regency, and two sub-districts in nine villages in South Hulu Sungai Regency (HSS).

The event began with remarks from Syamsul Bahri, a representative of PT. Antang Gunung Meratus, the collaborating partner. He expressed his hope that the Faperta students’ visit to the regions would have a tangible impact on the welfare and independence of the communities through concrete contributions in the agricultural sector.

“We hope that through this collaboration, all of you can plan or at least initiate programs that can support the creation of a prosperous and independent community,” he said.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Akhmad Rizally Saidy, S.P., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., expressed similar sentiments, expressing high hopes that the Faculty of Agriculture students at ULM will contribute and make a real impact in village development, which will hopefully improve the welfare of their communities. He also conveyed a message to always prioritize integrity and the good name of the university during the Community Service Program (KKN).

“Maintain the good name of the Faculty of Agriculture and ULM,” emphasized the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The KKN Village Development Program is a concrete manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the aspect of community service. Students will carry out various work programs according to the village’s potential and the recognition courses for each group, ranging from local-based agricultural development, organic fertilizer training, yard utilization, to environmental education and food security.

The farewell ceremony for the Faculty of Agriculture KKN participants was solemn and enthusiastic. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture symbolically draped nametags to student representatives and was followed by all other students, then continued with a group photo with all KKN participants and also lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture ULM and collaboration partners.
