IAAS ULM Students Officially Launch Empowerment Program in East Mandiangin, Receives Enthusiasm from Residents
Banjar – In an effort to support community empowerment and strengthen the capacity of student organizations, the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program Implementation Team (PPK Ormawa) from the IAAS Local Committee of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an opening and program socialization event in East Mandiangin Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar Regency, on Saturday (July 19, 2025).
This event served as a crucial opportunity to introduce the PPK Ormawa IAAS LC ULM work program, which will be implemented over the next few months. Held at the Mandiangin Freshwater Aquaculture Center, the event was attended by students, supervising lecturers, village officials, community leaders, as well as representatives from the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP), the Department of Agriculture and Food Security, and other relevant guests.
The event included various opening remarks by the Head of PPK Ormawa, Zaifan Huaidi. In his remarks, Zaifan expressed his hope that this program would benefit the community and help improve the local economy.
This was followed by remarks from Dra. Eny Dwi Pujawati, M.Si., the supervising lecturer from the PPK Ormawa (Student Student Organization) program. She also expressed her hope that the program would be well-received and make a real contribution to the community.
Ahmad Sairi, the village head of East Mandiangin, also warmly welcomed the PPK Ormawa IAAS LC ULM implementation team. He expressed high hopes for the program and expressed his gratitude for its empowerment of the community in East Mandiangin.
“We are very pleased to have students bringing this program to our village. Through this program, we sincerely hope to help develop the village’s potential and achieve independence, especially in the agricultural and entrepreneurial sectors,” he said.
The event was also attended by Sigit Triyanto, the coordinator of the Karang Intan BPP, who also expressed his readiness to assist and welcomed this initiative. Representatives from PT. Ciomas also attended the event and actively expressed their opinions and support.
Muhammad Irwan Setiawan S. Gz., M. Gz., the PIC of the PPK Ormawa (Student Organization) at Lambung Mangkurat University, stated that this program not only trains students’ skills but also hopes to help empower villages.
“This program not only educates students in the field, but also fosters leadership skills and a real spirit of mutual cooperation,” Irwan said.
A casual discussion session was also an important part of the activity. Residents enthusiastically shared their ideas, hopes, and questions with the student team. The discussion was interactive and friendly, demonstrating the residents’ strong enthusiasm for the program.
The event culminated in a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony by Village Head Ahmad Sairi, accompanied by Eny Dwi Pujawati, Muhammad Irwan Setiawan, representatives from the Karang Intan BPP, Sigit Triyanto, and other village officials. The moment was greeted with enthusiastic applause from all attendees.
The event concluded with a group photo session, a friendly gathering, and a meal while enjoying casual conversations with the local community. This opening ceremony marked a promising first step in a continued collaboration between IAAS LC ULM students and the community of Mandiangin Timur Village.
