Banjarbaru – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) demonstrated its active role in supporting the Food Security program, one of the national priorities of the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s Nawacita (Nine Priorities).

This support was demonstrated through the direct involvement of ULM lecturers in mentoring the Ministry of Defense’s Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) training program held at Rindam VI/Mulawarman, South Kalimantan, on Tuesday (July 8, 2025).

This activity is the result of a collaboration between ULM and the Ministry of Defense, specifically targeting civil servant candidates from fisheries, agriculture, and animal husbandry backgrounds. Thirteen lecturers from the ULM Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) were assigned to each educational battalion to provide technical materials and field mentoring to the participants.

“This is a concrete manifestation of ULM’s contribution to preparing strong and competitive human resources for the food sector, particularly within the national defense sector,” said Dr. Ir. Untung Bijaksana, MP, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of ULM.

This mentoring program aims to equip civil servant candidates (CPNS) with practical and strategic knowledge in the field of food security, which they will then apply in their official duties, including community development in various regions of Indonesia.

This program also reflects the central government’s trust in ULM as a strategic partner in strengthening the capacity of human resources in the defense sector. ULM lecturers not only provide technical material related to agriculture and fisheries but also foster a holistic understanding of the food sector’s critical role in maintaining national stability.

Through this mentoring program, ULM affirms its commitment to continuously implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education directly within the community and government institutions, and to being part of the solution to food security challenges in Indonesia.
