ULM Holds Tahfidz Pathway Test on Second Day of 2025 UTMBK
Banjarmasin, July 1, 2025 — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to providing access to higher education based on religious excellence by opening a Tahfidz pathway within the 2025 Independent Student Selection Program. The Quran memorization test was conducted on the second day of the Computer-Based Independent Written Examination (UTMBK), on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
A total of 15 participants participated in the Tahfidz pathway selection, which was held separately from the computer-based UTMBK. The Head of the ULM Academic Bureau stated that all participants had completed a memorization competency test covering memorization (30%), tajweed (25%), and fasahah (reading fluency) (20%). Furthermore, achievements in competitions in Tahfidz were also taken into account, with an additional 20% weighting.
“All memorization participants also take the UTMBK (Competency Test) like other independent pathway participants. The scores from this memorization test will be added to their exam results,” explained Nieke Rezeki Febriantie, S.E., M.M., Head of the Academic Bureau of ULM.
Memorization participants must still take the UTMBK, which consists of 430 questions. However, memorization test results will be used as a credit to increase their chances of passing, especially if the participant’s academic score does not meet the passing grade for their intended study program.
ULM also pays special attention to accepted memorization students. Students with strong memorization skills will receive ongoing coaching from the student affairs department. Last year, a memorization participant from the ULM Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) won a national-level qoriah competition thanks to this coaching support.
“This year, because ULM is hosting the National Student MTQ (MTQMN), potential memorization participants will be directly mentored to represent the university,” Feby explained.
By opening this tahfidz pathway, ULM hopes to attract prospective students with spiritual and academic intelligence, in line with the campus’ vision as an inclusive, religious, and national and international achievement-oriented higher education institution.
