ULM Funds 800 Research and Community Service Proposals Every Year, Commitment to Building Banua Through Innovation  

Banjarmasin, June 16, 2025 – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to developing science and making real contributions to society. Every year, through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), ULM funds around 800 research and community service proposals submitted by lecturers across faculties.

The Head of LPPM ULM, Prof. Sunardi, emphasized that research and community service activities are an important part of the academic role of lecturers. “This is a real form of ULM’s contribution in encouraging innovation and regional development based on science,” he said in Banjarmasin, Sunday.

As a form of documentation and dissemination of results, LPPM ULM routinely publishes books of lecturers’ works. This year, three books have been released, namely “65 Innovation Works of ULM Lecturers”, “65 Appropriate Technologies”, and “Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Membangun Banua dan Indonesia”.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of LPPM ULM, Dr. Yuslena explained that ULM’s service area covers a radius of up to 200 kilometers from the main campus in Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru, and even reaches almost the entire South Kalimantan region.

“We have partnered with many communities in Banjar and Tanah Laut Regencies, and the results have had a positive impact, especially in increasing local economic capacity,” She explained.

This service program is not only theoretical, but is oriented towards practical and sustainable solutions. In the near future, LPPM ULM will also launch a follow-up edition in the form of the book “67 Innovative Works and 67 Inventions and Appropriate Technologies” as proof of the lecturers’ consistency in producing useful works.

Through support for hundreds of research and service every year, ULM is determined to strengthen its position as a research university with a broad impact, while also being a driver of development in Banua and Indonesia in a more inclusive and sustainable manner.
