Forming a Legal Generation with Integrity: Supreme Court Goes to Campus 2025 at ULM
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) is hosting the Supreme Court Goes to Campus (MAGTC) in 2025. The activity, which was held at the Prof. H. Idham Azis Auditorium, Faculty of Law, ULM on Wednesday (11/6/2025), also opened the series of MA Goes to Campus activities in 2025.
Dr. Sobandi, Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of the Supreme Court, explained that this activity aims to open access as widely as possible for students as agents of change to understand more deeply about the judicial institution, its role and function, and the various challenges in law enforcement in Indonesia.
“Being a student is not just about attending class and completing assignments. Hopefully, this activity can encourage students to become active, critical, and visionary individuals,” said Sobandi.
This event was attended by hundreds of law students from 5 (five) universities in Banjarmasin, namely Lambung Mangkurat University, Sari Mulia University, Sultan Adam College of Law, Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari Islamic University of Kalimantan, and Antasari State Islamic University.
Representing the ULM Rector, the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations, and Information Systems of ULM, Dr. Ir. H. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc., expressed his pride in ULM being chosen as the host of this national activity.
“We are very happy and honored that Lambung Mangkurat University was chosen as the location for this activity. We hope that this activity can provide valuable knowledge, insight, and experience for students,” he said.
The MA Goes to Campus program is organized by the Supreme Court as an educational effort as well as encouraging students to be more prepared for a career in the legal field, either as a judge, partner, or employee at the Supreme Court. This program has been running for 5 years and has succeeded in collaborating with various universities in the country.
With the theme “Judge Profession among Gen Z”, MAGTC at ULM presented two speakers, Lucia Ridayanti, S.H., M.H and Dr. Riki Perdana Raya Waruwu, S.H., M.H. They provided insightful material about the profession of a judge, including duties, responsibilities, and career prospects in the judicial field.
In addition, participants were also given open information about the recruitment system, career levels, and information about take-home pay, which is one of the things that students often ask. Participants were given the opportunity to have a dialogue and ask questions directly, creating an interactive and educational atmosphere.
Not only a discussion session, this activity also presented a screening of an inspirational film entitled Titik Balik. This film tells the story of Firza, a judge in carrying out her duties as a judge and her challenges in maintaining integrity. Through the film, students are invited to dive into the emotional side and great responsibility inherent in the profession of a judge.
The “MA Goes to Campus” program, which is now entering its fifth year, is expected to be an educational forum to build a deeper understanding of the profession of a judge among students. The Supreme Court hopes that this program will not only benefit students, but also encourage students’ interest in becoming judges in Indonesia.
“Don’t hesitate to dream big, but accompany it with integrity, discipline, and social concern. The world of law requires not only intelligence, but also moral courage and firmness of principle. I believe that Banjarmasin will produce a reliable generation of future generations, both as judges and in other professions,” said Sobandi.
