Qurban at ULM: A Tradition of Sincerity and Mutual Cooperation That Continues
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering a spirit of social concern and togetherness through the implementation of the slaughter of sacrificial animals in the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah. Taking place at the ULM Banjarmasin Rectorate, 5 cows were slaughtered in an event that took place solemnly on Friday, (06/06/2025).
This sacrificial animal slaughtering activity is an annual routine agenda of ULM that involves participation from various elements of leadership, lecturers, education staff, and other academicians. This year, the activity was led by Jupriadi who acted as the Chief Executive.
In his statement, Jupriadi said that the process of collecting and implementing the sacrifice went smoothly thanks to the cooperation of the entire committee and the active participation of the sacrificers in the ULM environment. “Alhamdulillah, this year we were entrusted to organize a sacrifice with 5 cows. This is a real manifestation of the spirit of sharing and sincerity from the extended family of Lambung Mangkurat University,” said Jupriadi on the sidelines of the activity.
He added that the sacrificial meat will then be distributed to the ULM academic community, as well as the community around the campus environment who are entitled to receive it. The distribution process was carried out in an orderly manner using coupons that had been distributed previously to ensure that the sacrificial meat reached those in need.
Meanwhile, the Rector of ULM, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., gave high appreciation to all the committee members and sacrificers who had made this event a success. “This sacrifice activity is not just a religious ritual, but also an important momentum to strengthen ties and increase our empathy for others,” said the Chancellor.
The Rector also said that the Eid al-Adha sacrifice agenda shows that ULM as an educational institution is not only committed to academics, but also to strengthening social and humanitarian values in society.
The atmosphere of mutual cooperation and togetherness was very much felt during the implementation process, starting from the slaughtering, chopping, to the packaging of the sacrificial meat which was carried out together by the committee and volunteers. This activity is expected to continue and become a good tradition that inspires the entire ULM family every year.
