Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has once again recorded a proud achievement at the national level. Through the 2025 BIMA Grant scheme from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), 161 ULM lecturers’ research proposals have successfully obtained funding, with a total budget reaching IDR 11.29 billion.

This achievement places ULM in 8th place nationally, surpassing several well-known universities such as ITB, Indonesia Education University (UPI), and Syiah Kuala University (USK). This is the first time that ULM has entered the top 10 universities receiving the most research grants nationally, a milestone in the development of a research-based campus.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation and pride for this extraordinary achievement.

“I understand how complex research management is in higher education. Thank you to the entire team at LPPM for your extraordinary dedication. This is proof that ULM is on the right track as a research university,” he said.

This achievement cannot be separated from the adaptive research governance under the auspices of the ULM Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM). The Head of LPPM ULM, Prof. Sunardi, S Si, M Sc, Ph.D., said that this success was the result of a long process and continuous coaching.

“We routinely hold training and clinics for preparing proposals, especially for young lecturers. This is the result of collective hard work and a serious and focused research strategy,” he explained.

According to the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH, a number of factors contributed to this success, including the quality of competitive proposals, the track record of lecturers’ publications on the SINTA account, student involvement in research, and the suitability of the theme to the national development agenda.

“No less important is the active role of LPPM in aligning internal policies with national policy directions. Congratulations to all ULM lecturers. We should be proud,” he said.

Secretary of LPPM ULM, Dr. Ir. Yuslena Sari, S.Kom, M.Kom., IPM, also added that this achievement proves that ULM lecturers have superior research capacity and are able to compete nationally.

“This is proven by the passing of hundreds of proposals in a very strict funding scheme,” she said.

This achievement was also appreciated by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. When signing the funding contract, the Director of DPPM, Prof. I Ketut Adnyana, even specifically conveyed his greetings to the Rector of ULM and said that LPPM ULM deserved additional awards for this extraordinary achievement.

Not only excelling in the field of grant research, ULM has also made other achievements. Based on the assessment of RIDWANINSTITUT through Scimago Institutions Rankings, ULM is included in the Top 10 Most Innovative Universities outside Java, occupying the 5th position. The assessment is based on three main indicators, namely the number of patents, the number of patent citations, and collaboration with industry.

With these various strategic achievements, Lambung Mangkurat University continues to strengthen its position as a leading center of higher education outside Java, and is committed to being a driving force for national development through research and innovation that has a real impact.
