ULM Instills Champion Mindset in Students Through “Winning Mentality” Workshop with Hasnur Center
Banjarmasin – In an effort to improve students’ mental and career readiness, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) through the Guidance and Counseling Academic Support Unit (UPA BK) held a workshop entitled “Champion Mindset: The Key to Surviving and Growing (Winning Mentality) Amidst Future Certainty” on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The event, which took place at the Student Activity Center (SAC) 4, General Building ULM, presented Wawan Prasetyo as a resource person. He is the Coordinator of Social, Religious, and Youth Affairs of the Hasnur Center Foundation, who conveyed the importance of the readiness of the younger generation to face global challenges, especially related to the shift in human roles due to technological advances.
“Technological developments will make human roles increasingly replaceable. Therefore, a growth mindset and mental readiness are very much needed so that students not only survive, but also thrive,” said Wawan Prasetyo in his presentation.
This workshop was held in response to the results of a survey conducted by UPA BK on 3,264 ULM students in 2024. Through an online questionnaire, it was found that the majority of students face the biggest problems in the career field, compared to personal, social, or academic problems.
“We mapped the needs of students through a Google Form instrument that covers four areas: learning, personal, social, and career. As a result, career issues dominate. This is the basis for us to hold this activity,” explained Dr. Ririanti Rachmayanie J., S.Psi., M.Pd., Head of UPA BK ULM.
According to her, this workshop aims to motivate students to start preparing concrete steps in achieving their dreams, as well as foster a positive mindset and champion mentality amidst the uncertainty of the future.
“We want students to get the experience of sharing and discussing, so that they are better prepared to organize the future with real steps,” added Dr. Ririanti.
Also attending this activity was the Vice Rector III of ULM, Dr. Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si. and the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). The presence of the university leadership is a form of ULM’s full support for efforts to improve mental well-being and student career development.
