Banjarmasin — The Faculty of Economics and Business, Lambung Mangkurat University (FEB ULM) hosted the Public Lecture and Recruitment Entrepreneurship Program “Zurich Goes to Campus” on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Lecture Theater, General Building ULM Banjarmasin. Carrying the theme “Digital Transformation in Sharia Insurance: Realizing a Competitive and Sustainable Sharia Economic Ecosystem”, this activity was attended directly by the President Director of Zurich Syariah, Hilman Simanjuntak, as the main speaker.
This public lecture aims to expand students’ literacy about sharia insurance and introduce career and entrepreneurial opportunities in the technology-based sharia financial sector.
In his remarks, the Dean of FEB ULM, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunani, S.E., M.Si, expressed his appreciation for Zurich Syariah’s first visit to ULM. He emphasized the importance of activities like this in providing real insight to students, especially regarding the world of marketing and the sharia financial services industry.
“People who are active in the insurance world are great individuals, because what they sell is not just a product, but trust. Zurich Syariah is a multinational company with integrity, and its presence at ULM is a golden opportunity to learn directly from the best,” said Prof. Ahmad.
Satria Nugraha, as the Distribution Strategic Initiative of Zurich Syariah, also said that this program is part of the literacy and collaboration initiative that has been running since 2024.
“We are very grateful for the warm welcome from ULM. From the beginning of communication to the signing of the MoU, everything went quickly and positively. In addition to guest lectures, we also open internship programs, postgraduate management training, and entrepreneurship training for students,” he said.
Furthermore, Zurich Syariah also provides free personal accident insurance for one year to all public lecture participants as a form of appreciation and direct education on the benefits of sharia insurance products.
This activity also opens up opportunities for students to join the management trainee and entrepreneurship development programs that will be opened after the UAS. In the discussion and Q&A session, participants were invited to actively explore information from the speakers regarding challenges, innovations, and career prospects in the sharia insurance industry.
The “Zurich Goes to Campus” program is expected to be the beginning of a broader collaboration between ULM and Zurich Syariah, both in the fields of education, research, and human resource development in the sharia economic sector.
“We hope this is not the first and the last. We are ready to be ULM’s business partner in developing insurance solutions in the future,” concluded Satria.
With the spirit of “Waja Sampai Kaputing”, ULM continues to open itself to strategic collaborations that encourage students to get to know and be directly involved in the development of an inclusive and sustainable sharia economic ecosystem.
