ULM Student Wins Gold Medal in Physics at the 2025 Indonesian Language and Science Olympiad
Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has once again made a proud achievement at the national level. Beri Purnama Sinaga, a student of the Soil Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, won a Gold Medal in Physics at the 2025 Indonesian Language and Science Olympiad.
This competition was organized by the National Study Center (Puskanas) and was attended by students from all over Indonesia. The competition was held online on April 13, 2025, with participants divided into various scientific fields, including Indonesian, English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Beri chose Physics as the challenge in this competition.
Although he only had about a week to prepare, Beri showed high dedication by studying independently.
“I made the best use of my time to study Physics materials that are relevant to the Olympiad questions,” he said.
The main challenge Beri faced during the competition was time management. With a competition system that races against a certain duration, participants are required to complete questions quickly and accurately. However, Beri’s perseverance and calmness in facing time pressure managed to produce brilliant results.
In participating in this event, Beri did not receive special assistance from the university. However, his enthusiasm for learning remained high and became an inspiration for other students.
“I study independently, and from here I learned that no matter how little material we have ever learned, never forget it. All knowledge can be the key at unexpected times,” he explained.
Beri Purnama Sinaga’s achievement is proof that students from various disciplines, including from the field of agriculture, are able to compete and excel in other branches of science. His success also reflects the spirit of cross-disciplinary learning which is important in facing future challenges.
ULM appreciates this achievement and hopes that the enthusiasm and perseverance shown by Beri can motivate all students to continue to excel and bring honor to the university at the national and international levels.
