Director General of Higher Education Appoints ULM as Host of National MTQ, Appreciates Innovative Program of Kampus Banua
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has been officially appointed as the host of the 2025 National Student Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ). The decision was conveyed directly by the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Dr. Khairul Munadi, S.T., M.Eng., during his working visit to ULM on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
This appointment is a form of recognition of ULM’s capacity in organizing national-scale events and its contribution to the world of higher education.
“ULM has great potential and strong experience in managing national events. We are sure that the 2025 National Student MTQ will be a success here,” said Prof. Khairul.
During the visit, the Director General of Higher Education also had a direct dialogue with the rector, faculty leaders, lecturers, and students, discussing strengthening the higher education ecosystem based on innovation and local potential. He emphasized that higher education policies need to be formulated based on the reality of campuses in the regions in order to have a greater impact.
As a form of appreciation, Prof. Khairul highlighted one of ULM’s flagship programs, namely the development of corn in wetlands carried out together with the local government and the South Kalimantan Regional Police. This program is considered a concrete example of campus synergy with various stakeholders.
ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, welcomed the trust given. He stated that this opportunity is a driving force for ULM to continue to present programs that have a direct impact on the community.
“We want ULM to not only be an academic center, but also a driver of development in Banua,” he said.
This visit also reflects the central government’s commitment to be closer to universities in the regions, absorb aspirations directly, and encourage the transformation of higher education that is more adaptive and responsive to the needs of the times.
With ULM being appointed as the host of the 2025 National Student MTQ, this campus will not only become a center for national-level religious activities, but also strengthen its position as an innovative, collaborative, and impactful higher education institution for the wider community.
