ULM Encourages Participatory Supervision of Banjarbaru PSU Recapitulation

Banjarbaru — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) through the Center for Human Rights Studies (Pusham) actively supported the supervision of the Banjarbaru City Regional Head Election (Pilkada) Recapitulation (PSU) which was held on Saturday (19/4/2025). One of the real steps taken was to introduce an online-based vote recapitulation platform, JagaSuara2024.org, as a comparison tool for the official vote count results of the General Elections Commission (KPU).

In the socialization held the day before, Friday (18/4), at a cafe in Banjarbaru, the Coordinator of the JagaSuara2024 Movement, Drs. Hadar Nafis Gumai, MA, explained that this platform allows the public to send photos and vote acquisition data from each TPS via a mobile or web application. The data is then summarized to prevent potential vote manipulation.

“This movement aims to make the vote counting process more transparent and participatory. The public does not need to doubt unofficial results, in fact this is an effort to guard their votes,” said Gumai.

Public participation is key. Gumai emphasized the importance of volunteers and residents reporting Form C Results into the system. He said that no less than 23 organizations have joined in this effort, pushing Banjarbaru towards a more honest, fair, and clean democratic process.

Lecturer at FISIP and administrator of the Center for Human Rights Studies (PUSHAM) of Lambung Mangkurat University, Netty Herawati, S.IP., M.Si., who was also a resource person in this socialization, emphasized that the involvement of academics in supporting election supervision is a form of responsibility of universities towards local democracy. In addition to Netty, other speakers were also present, such as Titi Anggraini from the Perludem Advisory Board and Rachmadi from the Banjarbaru Caring Community Movement.

Representing the civil society community, the Coordinator of the Banjarbaru Caring Community, Sarkawi, appealed to residents to exercise their voting rights and maintain the conduciveness of the PSU.

“We invite all Banjarbaru residents to come to the TPS, don’t abstain,” he said.

Through this initiative, ULM emphasizes its role as an educational institution that not only focuses on academic development, but also actively contributes to strengthening community-based democracy.
