PT Freeport Indonesia and ULM Review Mangrove Planting in ULM PBPH Area

Kotabaru- The Wetland Environment Academic Support Unit (UPA LLB) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) collaborated with PT Freeport Indonesia to review mangrove planting activities in the ULM PBPH area on Wednesday (5/2/25). This visit is part of a joint effort to support the coastal ecosystem rehabilitation program which aims to preserve the coastal environment and raise awareness of the importance of the mangrove ecosystem.

The review activities that took place in the field involved direct discussions between teams from PT Freeport Indonesia and UPA LLB ULM. They examined the locations that had been selected as mangrove planting areas, ensuring the feasibility and sustainability of the project. In addition, the two parties also discussed the technical steps that need to be taken to support the success of this rehabilitation program.

The locations visited in the review included Teluk Kemuning Village and Tanjung Sungkai Village, two areas known to have great potential in mangrove rehabilitation. This project not only aims to improve the coastal ecosystem, but also provides economic and social benefits for the local community.

With the support of PT Freeport Indonesia and UPA LLB ULM, it is hoped that this mangrove planting program will run successfully, provide a positive impact on environmental sustainability, and become a model for coastal rehabilitation activities in other areas.
