MoU between ULM, South Kalimantan Regional Police, and AGM: Real Steps to Support Food Security

Banjarbaru – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) emphasized its role in supporting food security through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South Kalimantan Regional Police and PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM). The activity, which was carried out on Friday (12/27/2024), also involved the South Kalimantan Regional State Intelligence Agency (BINDA) as a strategic partner.

ULM Vice Rector II, Dr. Ir. Arief Rahmad Maulana Akbar, M.Sc., IPU, explained that this collaboration focuses on developing cattle farming and providing healthy feed.

“We will place 200 cows in the ULM educational garden as the initial step in implementing this program,” said Arief.

In addition to the livestock sector, ULM is also committed to developing agriculture by utilizing potential land for cultivating rice and corn. One of the target areas is Inhutani Pelaihari, Tanah Laut Regency, where the local community is already actively farming.

“We will optimize the potential of the land to support food self-sufficiency,” he added.

The South Kalimantan Police Chief, Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha, emphasized the importance of this program in supporting food security in the region.

“Food security in the livestock sector is the main focus. The results of this program will be channeled to ULM to support education, especially for students who are experiencing financial difficulties,” explained Rosyanto.

He also added that this collaboration is part of the South Kalimantan Police initiative to advance community welfare through collaboration with universities and the private sector.

This program not only aims to improve food security but also create sustainable social and educational benefits in South Kalimantan. With strong support from various parties, ULM hopes that this program can become an effective collaboration model in the livestock and agriculture sectors.
