Balancing Her Study Schedule, Maria Ulfa et al. Won the Favorite Team Title in PIMNAS 37

In the midst of her busy schedule as a third-year student in the Psychology Department of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Lambung Mangkurat University (FKIK ULM), Maria Ulfa remains enthusiastic about competing in the 2024 Student Creativity Program.

After having difficulty forming a team and designing research, Maria Ulfa together with Muhammad Hatta (class of 2023), Wanda Masayu (class of 2023), and Afina Annisa Ul Alimah (class of 2022) managed to qualify and bring honor to ULM through the event.

The team led by Maria Ulfa, managed to win the position as the Favorite Team in the Presentation category in the PKM in the Social Humanities Research (RSH) field. They presented research entitled “Pandora Privilege Education: Building a Model for Increasing Academic Resilience in Migrant Students from the Papuan Tribe”.

Under the direct guidance of a ULM Psychology lecturer, Dr. Muhammad Abdfan Shadiqi, M.Sc., preparations have been carried out since November 2023, starting from the formation of the team which was then continued with various discussions to strengthen the research design from December to January.

“We conducted research strengthening and preliminary studies in December and January. We also started writing the research proposal at that time until the registration opened, which was in February,” he said.

During the preparation period, he received various series of activities from study programs, faculties, and universities. These activities range from delivering materials related to PKM preparation, technical guidance, and reviewing proposals from internal and national ULM parties.

“The activities organized by the faculty and university really help us in supporting and preparing the research proposals that will be proposed so that we can get very satisfying and proud results,” said Maria Ulfa.

After her group was declared to have passed the funding and headed to the PKM Implementation Progress Assessment (PKP2), she said that the faculty and university carried out simulations 3 times (the faculty 2 times and the university 1 time). Maria’s team and friends were then declared as finalists in the 37th PIMNAS, the peak event of the Student Creativity Program (PKM).

“ULM held intensive coaching for 3 days filled with presentation simulation agendas, Q&A sessions, and review of files that will be submitted as requirements for the final implementation of the activity,” she said.

Through her participation in this event, Maria Ulfa gained various memorable experiences that also broadened her horizons. While at PIMNAS, she was able to learn and explore various unique and interesting ideas and innovations from students all over Indonesia.

Maria Ulfa also admitted that through the title of the research she raised about students from Papua, she was able to better understand the difficulties experienced by students from Papua while studying.

Previously, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat managed to rank 6th as the university with the most funded proposals in Indonesia in PKM Dikti 2024. This achievement is something to be proud of, especially when ULM managed to send 5 teams as finalists to be able to participate in the 37th National Scientific Week (PIMNAS) held at Airlangga University, Surabaya in October 2024.

Hopefully, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat can continue to improve this achievement and become a university that is not only a place for lectures, but also encourages its students to continue to excel. ULM as a university in South Kalimantan continues to strive to facilitate and create a conducive and supportive learning atmosphere in order to produce intelligent and competitive graduates.

Congratulations to the students who have succeeded in achieving achievements. Hopefully the achievements achieved can be a motivation, both for yourself and other students, to continue to learn and develop.
