Release of Campus Teaching Program(Kampus Mengajar) Students Batch 7 “Improve Teaching in Education Units by Building Advanced, Innovative and Inclusive Education”
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University is proud to carry out the release of Teaching Campus Students on Thursday (16/2/2024) led by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH. and also present was the Vice Rector for Cooperation, Public Relations and Information Systems, Dr. Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc, ULM MBKM Coordinator, Teaching Campus PIC, Head of BAK, Field Supervisor, and Class 7 Teaching Campus program students.
The Class 7 Teaching Campus Program carries the theme “Improving Teaching in Education Units by building Advanced, Innovative and Inclusive Education”. Dr. In his speech, Iwan paid full attention to the theme designed for this program which he felt was very interesting. He underlined the important points in the theme, namely advanced, innovative and inclusive. Forward which means expecting something better than before, innovative which means something new or something that has not existed before, then finally inclusive which means looking at things from someone else’s point of view. This certainly becomes a basis for future participants at their assignment to realize their work program.
The Teaching Campus is a learning channel that provides students with the opportunity to study outside campus for one semester to practice their ability to solve complex problems by becoming partners with teachers to innovate in learning, develop strategies and learning models that are creative, innovative and fun.
On this occasion, the Class 6 Teaching Campus participants also shared experiences and explained things that needed to be done to contribute directly as agents of change in Indonesian education. First, observe the place or school, how the habits or culture are embedded in students, teachers and the surrounding community in order to design an effective and efficient work program. Then habituation, students must be able to get used to mingling with students, teachers and the surrounding community to get to know their character better. As well as, carrying out program designs that have been prepared and discussed together with teachers, school principals and field supervisors.
One of the problems faced by education in Indonesia is the low literacy index and low numeracy index, in fact the literacy index according to data obtained by the Vice Chancellor is around 0.001%. This indicates that out of 1000 people only 1 person likes to read. Not only that, Indonesia is also in 63rd position out of 203 countries in the education category. This proves that Indonesia is still unable to compete with developed countries in terms of education. Therefore, with this program it is hoped that teachers and teacher partners, in this case students, can design programs that can improve the quality of education in Indonesia.
Dr. Iwan also added that the presence of ULM students in the Teaching Campus program is not solely for teaching but to become teacher partners and agents of change in realizing more innovative and inclusive educational work programs. “Hopefully this theme can be implemented, have a positive impact on society and ULM will become more advanced,” he concluded.
