Strengthening Integrity and Diversity: ULM in the 2024 Independent Student Exchange Program
Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has taken important steps in supporting the Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) batch 4 in 2024. A total of 263 students from ULM will be placed in 65 state and private universities throughout Indonesia. The release and debriefing event for students was held at the Lecture Theater General Building ULM Banjarmasin, Tuesday (23 January 2024). In her speech, the ULM PMM Coordinator, Diani Ayu Pratiwi M.Pd, said that ULM’s participation in the PMM outbound program had shown a significant increase since it first started in 2021. In 2021, 67 ULM students participated, followed by 126 students in 2021. 2022, 195 students in 2023, and 263 students in 2024.
The release and debriefing event for PMM batch 4 of ULM this time carried the theme “strengthening integrity, developing national insight, strengthening diversity, unity and nationalism”. ULM Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Dr. Dr. Iwan Aflanie MKes SpF SH, hopes that the selected students can make maximum use of the PMM 4 program. According to him, not all universities in Indonesia have the opportunity to implement the PMM 4 program. In 2024, only 128 universities will be appointed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, and ULM is one of them.
Dr. Iwan Aflanie also emphasized his hope that the selected students can learn a lot and give their best at their destination universities. Apart from that, they are also expected to become ambassadors for ULM and show that ULM is a superior and competitive university. On the other hand, ULM is committed to continuing to participate in the PMM program in the coming years. “Our vision is how this kind of activity can continue and not be interrupted,” said Dr. Iwan Aflanie.
The Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) is an initiative of the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). This program provides students with the opportunity to take part in a mobility program for one semester at other universities in Indonesia. The main goal of this program is to strengthen unity and diversity through intercultural learning. Apart from that, this program also allows student exchanges between state universities (PTN) and private universities (PTS). This program can be taken by students in semesters 3, 5, and 7.
