Rector and 1000 Students Take part in Greening Pamaton Mount Together with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the Province of South Kalimantan
Banjar Regency, Pamaton Mount Area which is part of the Special Purpose Forest Area (KHDTK) of Lambung Mangkurat University is an important watershed area and is one of the focuses of reforestation. Together with 2,500 people including 1000 students from Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., Governor of South Kalimantan Dr. (HC). H. Sahbirin Noor, S.Sos., M.H., planting mahogany trees on Mount Pamaton, Saturday (30/12) morning. The Pamaton Mount area and also the PT Adaro Indonesia Watershed (DAS) rehabilitation area with an area of 321 hectares. This planting is part of the simultaneous tree planting throughout Indonesia by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). A total of 1000 ULM people made South Kalimantan the region with the largest number of participants with a total of 2500 people with 7,500 seeds planted.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., fully supports the tree planting program throughout Indonesia because it is in accordance with the ULM Vision and Mission. The Chancellor also hopes that this activity can be carried out continuously by ULM every year. “As part of the national forestry community, ULM and students will oversee this planting, not only in the planting stage but also in caring for it,” concluded the Rector.
Director General of Forestry Planning and Environmental Management (Dirjen PKTL) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, who also participated in the simultaneous tree planting, explained that the Ministry of Environment and Forestry is ready to facilitate areas that do not have or even lack tree seedlings to be planted, especially in areas that are prone to disasters such as floods or landslides. landslide. “The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is planting trees simultaneously in 38 provinces throughout Indonesia, this is an effort to mitigate disasters against climate change, restore environmental quality, and also to reduce carbon emissions,” said Hanif.
According to Hanif, the presence of trees and good land cover can increase nature’s carrying capacity in mitigating climate change, food security, energy and the welfare of all living creatures. “The Ministry of Environment and Forestry is committed to reducing emissions from the forestry sector and other land uses with a target net sink figure of 140 million tons of CO2eq through the Indonesia Folu Net Sink 2030,” he said.
