POMNAS XVIII South Kalimantan 2023 Officially Finished, South Kalimantan Reaches Top 10 Position
Banjarbaru – The XVIII South Kalimantan National Student Sports Week (POMNAS) 2023 has finally ended. The closing of the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS was held at the Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Banjarbaru Auditorium on Wednesday (22/11/2023).
This closing event was conducted by the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Sc., as the host for the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS, the Governor of South Kalimantan H. Sahbirin Noor who was represented by the South Kalimantan Regional Secretary Roy Rizali Anwar, and the Head of the Education and Training Center for Employees of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Dr. Ir. Mustangimah, M.Sc. The entire contingent of athletes and officials also attended this closing.
The POMNAS medal winner this year was the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta, with a total of 140 medals, namely 68 gold medals, 34 silver medals and 38 bronze medals. Thus, DKI Jakarta was crowned as the 18th General Champion of POMNas in 2023.
Meanwhile, host South Kalimantan is in 6th place with 42 medals, namely 8 gold, 7 silver and 27 bronze.
Dr. Rusmin Nuryadin, SE., M.Sc., Chair of BAPOMI South Kalimantan who is also Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni at ULM, said that South Kalimantan’s achievements in this POMNAS event were a significant and extraordinary improvement.
“Usually we are ranked more than 20, and this year we are in the top 10, namely in 6th position,” he said.
The South Kalimantan province won 8 gold medals consisting of 5 gold medals in wrestling, 2 gold medals in karate and 1 gold medal in rock climbing.
Based on a report from the Rector of ULM Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Sc., POMNAS South Kalimantan 2023 will compete in 16 sports, more than the previous POMNAS event which only competed in 14 sports. A total of 2,701 athletes and 1,336 officials came to South Kalimantan to take part in the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS.
Prof. Ahmad also expressed his thanks to the Indonesian Student Sports Advisory Board (BAPOMI), the entire committee, provincial government, regional government, and all parties involved in making the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS a success.
“There is no ivory that is not cracked, we also apologize if there are any shortcomings in the organization of this national event,” said the Rector of ULM.
South Kalimantan Regional Secretary Roy Rizali Anwar, representing the Governor of South Kalimantan, expressed his appreciation to all students and athletes who have mobilized their best potential, talents and abilities in the highest student-level sporting event in Indonesia.
“Congratulations and success to you, the best students who have achieved achievements,” he said.
Roy also conveyed a message from the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Sahbirin Noor, that the athletes who have taken part in the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS will continue to be more enthusiastic about taking part in competitions and achieving even higher achievements in events. Through the achievements achieved, it is hoped that this can become a path to becoming a professional athlete and ready to provide the best achievements for the nation and state.
On this occasion, the Head of the Education and Training Center for Employees of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Dr. Ir. Mustangimah, M.Sc., said that the implementation of the 2023 South Kalimantan POMNAS is momentum for Indonesia’s preparations to host the 2024 ASEAN University Games in East Java.
