Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Engineering, Lambung Mangkurat University (FT ULM) was chosen as the host for the 16th Bio Energy Goes to Campus (BGTC) on Monday (30/10/2023), at the General Building ULM Banjarmasin. This event is an event organized by the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE).
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for organizing BGTC and choosing FT ULM as host. Carrying the theme “Development of Bioenergy in Indonesia for the Energy Transition”, this event was attended by hundreds of students from PTN and PTS in the city of Banjarmasin.
The BGTC Chapter 16 Banjarmasin event attended by several speakers, including the Head of the Motor Fuel and Thermofluid Laboratory, ULM Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Dr. Eng. Apip Amrullah, ST., M.Eng with the material “The Role of Universities in Bioenergy Development in Indonesia”, Felicia Lim from the APROBI Secretariat with the material “Potential and Implementation of Biodiesel Development in Indonesia”, Head of the Research and Observation Department Abdul Hadi, ST., M .Sc with the material “Implementation of the Compressed Biomethane Gas (CBG) Program in Indonesia”, and Chairman of the Indonesian Biomass Energy Producers Cooperative Ir. Prof. Ahmad in his speech said that one of the problems in developing Indonesian human resources is limited energy. Therefore, an innovative approach is needed to fulfill national energy, basic and strategic energy needs in managing the management of our nation. “With bio energy being developed in collaboration with entrepreneurs and domestic investors, it is a momentum for Indonesia’s economic revival, at least national subsidies to meet development needs, including the development of human resources, educational infrastructure, scholarships and others, will encourage Indonesian society,” said the Rector.
He said that developing bio-energy is not easy considering that there are many diverse interests. Moreover, energy is a basic need for the people. “I am confident that what has been initiated and fought for as an innovation implemented by the national bio-energy team will provide the greatest benefit,” he said. As a state university in Eastern Indonesia, the Chancellor of ULM said that ULM will provide support for national bioenergy so that it continues to be sustainable and its development continues to increase.
Director of Bioenergy, Directorate General of EBTKE, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Ir. Edi Wibowo, MT., said that BGTC is a routine activity which aims to socialize and disseminate information related to programs, regulations and implementation of bio-energy development in Indonesia to relevant stakeholders, especially the academic community.
Through this activity, it is also hoped that it will become a forum for education in the development of new and renewable energy, so that it can increase support for the implementation of bio-energy through the creation of human resources and the development of innovation. Ir. Edi also touched on the effects of the global climate which causes seasonal shifts, so the government needs to make policies related to energy strengthening programs. “Energy transition is a national program, in support of the commitment to climate development which sets the greenhouse target in 2030 at 31.9%. “We all need cooperation to achieve the target, there is a road map to achieve the target,” concluded Ir. Eddie.
