ULM Quattrick to the 2023 National Pilmapres Final, Gastin Gabriel Jangkang, ULM Students Again Enter the 2023 Pilmapres Final
Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin, S.E., M.Si, expressed his pride for Gastin Gabriel Jangkang, a student at the Faculty of Medicine, Lambung Mangkurat University (FK ULM) who managed to become one of 19 students to become a finalist in the 2023 National Level Achievement Student Selection (Pilmapres) in the Undergraduate Program category. . As the highest leader in the field of student affairs at ULM he stated that “Currently we are preparing for the National level and coaching and equipping our children as well and as intensively as possible, strengthening training again, deepening the talents we have as provisions that will be brought to Unhas as the place for the Pilmapres year 2023”.
“Alhamdulillah, through tiered selection from the study program level, faculty level, to obtaining winners at the university level followed by intensive assistance for regional to national selection, 4 years in a row ULM has entered the finals in the Pilmapres competition organized by the BPTI Puspresnas Kemdikbudristek. And this year, through their hard work and high enthusiasm, the children we sent, who are very extraordinary with national and international achievements, are even students participating in the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) Program at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, who will later will carry the name of the struggling campus – Lambung Mangkurat University can become the winner in the 2023 National Pilmapres”
One of Gastin’s creative ideas focuses on Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SGD 8) which aims to increase inclusive and sustainable economic growth, productive and comprehensive employment opportunities and decent work for all. In his presentation, Gastin emphasized the importance of domestic products for the Indonesian economy by showing the multiplier effect of spending on local goods and services. The ‘Increased Use of Domestic Production’ (P3DN) program, which mandates the inclusion of local components in every product.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2022 there will be an increase of more than 500% to IDR 4.21 billion in the value of our imports compared to last year. Gastin highlighted the potential benefits of this program in terms of creating new jobs, expanding businesses and driving economic growth. However, he also realized that there were challenges in the implementation of the program, especially in the education sector. To overcome these challenges Gastin proposed the P3DN Excelerator (Excellent Accelerator) plan, which aims to encourage a smoother and more effective implementation of the P3DN program. “I presented short-term and long-term strategies, such as tax subsidies, improving communication channels, partnerships, a certain level of TKDN, safety nets for domestic producers, monitoring, evaluation, infrastructure development and research. I firmly believe that implementing the P3DN Excelerator (Excellent Accelerator) Plan will not be easy, but with the support and participation of the Indonesian people, we can contribute to realizing the government’s vision for a better economy.” Gastin said.
Separately the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr. Iwan Aflanie, dr., M.Kes., Sp.F., SH., welcomed Gastin’s escape. “Gastin’s passing in the Pilmapres final stage maintains ULM’s good trend and 4 years in a row ULM has entered the Mawapres Final, namely Zidan (Psychology Study Program), Khairul (Psychology Study Program), Azmi (Public Health Study Program) and Gastin (Medical Study Program). This is due to Gastin’s achievements, including the Medicine Olympiad, Student Organization Management, English Debate Champion, and various other achievements at the national and international levels. “In addition to these achievements, recently Gastin also received a Patent Certificate from the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, therefore let’s pray and give motivation that Gastin will be successful in raising and catapulting the name of ULM,” concluded the Vice Rector.
