FMIPA ULM Hosts SEMIRATA-BKS PTN 2023, Holds International Seminars and Competitions
Banjarbaru – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an international seminar The 6th International Conference of Science and Technology (ICST) on Friday (7/7/2023) at the Grand Q Hotel Dafam Banjarbaru. This event is also a series of the 2023 MIPA 2023 Western Region PTN SEMIRATATA.
SEMIRATA BKS West Region State Universities Field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are seminars and annual meetings of deans and heads of study programs from tertiary institutions that are members of the West Region State Higher Education Cooperation Agency. The national seminar this time takes the theme “Harmonizing People, Nature, and Culture Through Scientific Collaboration”
ULM Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Sc., in his remarks at this event said that holding this event could be a source of inspiration for ULM in the context of accelerating professorship, especially at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Through this activity, it is certainly hoped that it can add scientific insight in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences so that it can encourage an increase in the quality of research and research in the future.
“Hopefully this event can give us the maximum benefit, at least by being here we can establish friendships for universities in the western region of Indonesia,” said the Rector.
INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR
The SEMIRATA 2023 international seminar has discussions with the following scope:

- Computing and Simulation
- Biomaterials and Natural Products
- Mathematics and Science Education
The main speakers at the SEMIRATA 2023 international seminar include the General Secretary of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, Ir. Suharti, M.A., Ph.D., Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Community and Regional Planning, Alabama A&M University-USA Prof. Dr. Deden Rukmana, Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Chemistry Study Program FMIPA ULM Prof. Rodiansono, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Professor at the School of Environmental and Life Sciences, The University of Newcastle – Australia Prof. Tim Roberts.
NATIONAL COMPETITION
To enliven the holding of SEMIRATA 2023, FMIPA ULM is also holding various competitions that students from various universities in Indonesia can participate in. There are 8 branches of competition opened in the SEMIRATA 2023 competition, including poster design competitions, poetry creation competitions, Islamic essay competitions, infographic competitions, photography competitions, programmer battle competitions, comic strip competitions, and Mobile Legends competitions.
The competitions are held from April to June. The winner of the competition will then be announced at the 2023 SEMIRATA event before the International Seminar begins.
