ULM and the South Kalimantan Regional Police Inaugurate the Police Study Center
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) and the South Kalimantan Regional Police signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and launched the Police Study Center at the ULM LPPM Auditorium on Wednesday (March 11, 2026). This activity is a strategic step in strengthening synergy between academia and law enforcement institutions, particularly in the development of studies, research, and community service in the field of policing.
The Head of LPPM ULM, Prof. Ir. Sunardi, S.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., hopes that the collaboration between ULM and the South Kalimantan Regional Police will continue to grow and have a positive impact on the community. “Hopefully, the synergy between ULM and the South Kalimantan Regional Police will continue to grow. At ULM itself, there are more than 20 study centers in various fields of study, and this is the first study center specifically linked to a specific institution in Indonesia,” he said.
He also hopes that the academics involved in the Police Study Center will actively conduct various beneficial studies and research. “Hopefully, the colleagues active in the Police Study Center can conduct studies and produce many results, whether research results, policies, or community service initiatives. We hope that whatever we do will have a positive impact on the Indonesian people and nation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Senior Commissioner Maulana Hamdan, representing the South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief, stated that the establishment of the Police Study Center is a strategic step in strengthening collaboration between the police and academic institutions. “This is a strategic step between law enforcement agencies and academics. The establishment of the Police Study Center is part of the implementation of the acceleration program for Polri formation,” he explained.
He added that the establishment of the study center also follows up on the Chief of Police’s directive regarding the development of police study centers in various regions across Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to foster productive collaboration between the police and academics in producing scientific studies, policy recommendations, and various community service programs that can provide tangible benefits to the community.
