Gastin Gabriel Jangkang, a Medical Professional Student from ULM, once again achieves success in the 2025 South Kalimantan Youth Achievers Selection
Banjarmasin, December 1, 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is once again proud of one of its students who has achieved success. Gastin Gabriel Jangkang, a student in the Medical Professional Program, once again achieved brilliant success by winning third place in the 2025 South Kalimantan Youth Achievers Selection, organized by the South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) (November 26, 2025).
This prestigious South Kalimantan Youth Achievers Selection is being held for the first time and is divided into five fields of competition: Leadership and Social Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology, Environment and Development, and Arts, Culture, and Digital Creativity.
This activity consisted of three main stages: administrative file selection, the finalist stage, and the final round. Only 20 individuals were selected for each category.
Gastin competed in the Education, Science, and Technology category, presenting an interesting innovation that advanced him to the final round.
“In the semifinals, I presented an innovation related to the use of rinse-free hand soap in the Education, Science, and Technology category, as well as discussing underground reservoirs and future hospitals. These innovations earned me the opportunity to become a finalist,” Gastin explained.
In the final round, Gastin was asked to give a five-minute presentation, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session to discuss his proposed innovation.
“I feel very happy and honored to have made and met so many people from various regions, and to have had the opportunity to learn about the culture of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, and even youth,” he continued.
Gastin’s achievements were further enhanced by the fact that just a week earlier, he also won the 1st Place Outstanding Youth Award in Banjarmasin City, organized by the Banjarmasin City Department of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism (Disbudporapar).
Gastin hopes that this Outstanding Youth Selection event can continue in the years to come and serve as a role model for future outstanding youth.
