ULM–Ministry of Forestry MoU: Tri Dharma Synergy for Sustainable Forestry

JAKARTA – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) is expanding its involvement in forestry by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Forestry on Monday (September 15, 2025) in Jakarta. The signing was carried out directly by ULM Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si.

This collaboration is a strategic step to strengthen the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in forestry development. Through this MoU, ULM is committed to supporting education, research, community service, and innovation in the forestry sector that provide tangible benefits to society and the environment.

The scope of the collaboration covers five main aspects: research, publication, development, implementation, and innovation; education, training, mentoring, and community service; technology transfer and data exchange; facilitation of Special Purpose Forest Areas (KHDTK); and other activities relevant to the Tri Dharma.

Specifically, ULM will also focus on the development and management of the Forest and Other Land Use (KHDTK) and mangrove ecosystems as centers for biodiversity research and conservation. This initiative aligns with efforts to support the national FOLU (Forest and Other Land Use) Net Sink 2030 program, which aims to reduce emissions through sustainable forest and land management.

Through this synergy, ULM is expected to become a strategic partner of the Ministry of Forestry in bridging national policies with implementation on the ground, while also providing innovative solutions for forest management, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable development.
