Banjarmasin — Ahead of the implementation of the 2025 National Test-Based Selection (SNBT), the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, S.E., M.Si. appealed to prospective students to be more careful in choosing the study program (prodi) they are interested in.

Prof. Alim emphasized the importance of understanding the opportunities in each study program by considering the capacity and number of applicants in previous years.

“Don’t just choose. Pay close attention to the available quota and the level of competition,” said Prof. Alim

In SNBT 2025, participants can choose a maximum of four study programs from various state universities (PTN). ULM itself provides 3,550 seats for the SNBT pathway, the selection of which is carried out through a Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK).

This quota is the largest compared to other pathways, which is a minimum of 40 percent of the total ULM new student admissions of 7,512 people in the 2025/2026 academic year.

In addition to SNBT, ULM also opens the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway with a minimum of 1,929 seats (20 percent), as well as an independent selection pathway for a maximum of 2,033 seats (30 percent).

Prof. Alim revealed that a number of study programs at ULM have very tight competition. For example, the Information Technology Study Program which only provides 30 seats, but is in demand by more than 700 applicants each year. The Pharmacy Study Program with a capacity of 40 seats is also contested by more than 800 prospective students.

Meanwhile, the Medical Study Program is one of the most favorites, with a capacity of 75 people but in demand by more than 1,300 applicants. In addition, other study programs such as Computer Science, Mining Engineering, Dentistry, Psychology, and Public Health are also included in the category of tight competition.

For the Diploma Three (D3) level, the Taxation and Accounting study programs also recorded very high interest, each attracting more than a thousand applicants each year.

Seeing the high interest, Prof. Alim again reminded the importance of strategy in choosing a study program so that the chances of being accepted are greater.

“Recognize and understand the trends of applicants in each study program. That way, prospective students can map opportunities and make wiser decisions,” he concluded.
