2025 New Student Admissions Socialization: Encourage the Young Generation to Build the Nation

Banjarmasin – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) held a Socialization and Promotion of New Student Admissions for State Universities on Thursday (9/1/2025). The event took place at the Lecture Theater General Building ULM Banjarmasin and was broadcast live via ULM’s official YouTube channel.

This activity was attended by participants from various schools in South Kalimantan with the main speaker from ULM. In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of ULM highlighted the major challenges faced by Indonesia in building the nation through higher education.

“Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest number of universities in the world. However, there is a paradox: even though we have produced many graduates, we are still not a developed country. The high unemployment rate, including among intellectuals, and the low relevance of graduates’ jobs to their academic fields are serious challenges,” said the Vice Rector.

He added that Indonesia has the opportunity to become a developed country in 2045 if it is able to prepare its young generation to become intellectuals who are competent in their fields.

“If the younger generation only produces labor exports without special skills, then we will not progress. The key is to organize ourselves from now on so that college graduates are able to contribute directly to national development,” he explained.

ULM currently offers 120 study programs, 60% of which have been accredited as superior. Two new study programs, namely Bachelor of Anthropology and Orthopedic Specialist, were also introduced in this socialization as part of ULM’s efforts to answer the increasingly complex needs of the world of work.

Through this activity, ULM not only promotes study programs, but also provides in-depth understanding to prospective students regarding the importance of choosing higher education that is relevant to the needs of the nation. With the vision of forming a competent and dedicated young generation, ULM hopes to contribute to making Indonesia a world power by 2045.
