Tanah Laut – The Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) accompanied the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, on a working visit to Bati-Bati Village, Bati-Bati District, Tanah Laut Regency. The visit, which was carried out on Tuesday (12/31/2024), aimed to review the progress of the Community Rice Field Printing Program (CSR), which is part of the government’s strategy to support the acceleration of national food self-sufficiency.

The Rector of ULM, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Sc., was present with a group of high-ranking regional officials, including the Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province Roy Rizali Anwar and the Acting Regent of Tanah Laut Syamsir Rahman. ULM’s presence in this activity shows the university’s commitment to supporting the development of a sustainable agricultural sector.

Indonesian Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, and his entourage directly reviewed the 236-hectare swamp land that has been optimized by constructing irrigation channels and embankments along 4,800 meters. This project also includes land clearing in an area of±2,100 square meters. This effort is expected to increase agricultural productivity in the area.

“This program is not only a government agenda, but a real step towards national food security,” said Minister Amran. He emphasized the importance of synergy between all parties to ensure the sustainability of the program, while also asking that the progress of this project run according to target.

On this occasion, the Rector of ULM said that universities have a strategic role in supporting the success of the national program.

“We are ready to contribute through research, technological innovation, and human resource development to increase agricultural productivity,” said Prof. Ahmad.

The presence of ULM together with the ranks of the regional government and related agencies emphasized the importance of collaboration in realizing food security.

“We hope that the potential land in South Kalimantan which reaches 195,664 hectares can be optimized through this program,” added the Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan, Roy Rizali Anwar.

The People’s Rice Field Printing Program in Bati-Bati Village is part of the government’s grand vision to strengthen national food independence. With the support of various parties, including universities such as ULM, this step is expected to be a strategic solution that brings long-term benefits to the community and the Indonesian agricultural sector.
