Improving the Quality of Public Services, ULM Signs MoU Collaborating with the Ombudsman Republic of Indonesia
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) agreed to collaborate with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia in order to improve the quality of higher education by improving the quality of public services within ULM.
This collaboration agreement was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was held on Tuesday (5/12/2023) at the Prof. Auditorium H. Idham Zarkasi, SH., ULM Faculty of Law. The MoU was signed directly by the Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Alim Bachri, SE., M.Sc., and Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, Mokhammad Najih, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D.
The Ombudsman is a state institution that has the authority to supervise the implementation of public services both organized by state administrators and the government, including those organized by State-Owned Enterprises, Regional-Owned Enterprises, State-Owned Legal Entities as well as private entities or individuals who are given the task of administering certain public services. some or all of the funds come from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget and/or Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget.
Therefore, the collaboration between ULM and the Indonesian Ombudsman was carried out with the mission of improving the quality of public services within ULM so that in the future ULM can improve its quality as a university with Public Service Agency (BLU) status. The Head of the South Kalimantan Ombudsman Representative, Hadi Rahman, S.I.P., MPA (Mgmt.).
“Our aim in making this MoU is to strengthen the synergy between the Ombudsman and ULM as the oldest and largest university in South Kalimantan,” he said.
The scope of cooperation between ULM and the Ombudsman as stated in the MoU includes:
- Prevention of maladministration;
- Completion of public reports;
- Providing education, research and community service;
- Implementation of Independent Learning-Free Campus activities;
- Exchange of data or information;
- And other things that were agreed upon.
On this occasion, the ULM Rector hopes that by making the Ombudsman a strategic partner, ULM can improve the provision of public services to all ULM academics and the general public. “I believe that without complete, perfect service to the entire Ulm academic community and Ulm’s strategic partners, Ulm will not be able to carry out its duties and functions as a higher education institution that will provide higher education services to the Indonesian people and nation,” said the Rector.
The Rector also advised the leadership of faculties and institutions within ULM to follow up on the MoU between ULM and the Indonesian Ombudsman with a cooperation agreement between ULM faculties and institutions and the South Kalimantan Representative Ombudsman. After signing the MoU, the series of activities continued with a public lecture by the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman to the students present, with the theme “Synergy of the Ombudsman and Higher Education in Supervising Public Services in the Era of Society 5.0”.
