BUNGAS Women’s School Leads ULM to 2025 Student Organization Service Award

Banjarmasin — Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved a proud achievement on the national stage. At the 2025 Student Organization Service Award, held from December 4–7, 2025, at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, ULM won two awards, affirming the excellence and quality of student organization service programs implemented on campus.

The Student Organization PPK Team from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of ULM won the 4th Best Award in the Most Inspiring Team category. Furthermore, their supervisor, Ns. Agianto, S.Kep., M.N.S., Ph.D., also received the 4th Best Award in the Best Sustainable Supervisor category. These two achievements strongly demonstrate that ULM’s community service program is not only effective but also addresses aspects of sustainability, independence, and community empowerment.

This achievement was achieved through a flagship program titled “Unlocking the Life Skills of Women in Karang Intan Village Through the Implementation of the BUNGAS (Happy, Resilient, Resilient, Creative, and Intelligent) Women’s School.” Through this program, the PPK Ormawa Team from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the ULM designed a phased learning process that directly addresses the needs of women in Karang Intan Village, Banjar Regency. The program features five classes: Education, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Leadership, and Health, all designed based on the real needs of the local community.

Agianto explained that the program has been in preparation since late 2024, and he has assisted with everything from developing proposals and sub-proposals, gathering supporting data, and facilitating student engagement with the village, partners, and even the university itself.

“In addition to developing the program based on needs, we also need to align its implementation with the activities of the village residents, especially the women,” Agianto said.

During its implementation, the PPK Ormawa DPM FKIK ULM team also faced other challenges, such as the need to adapt or modify the program to suit the abilities of the villagers.

“When we encountered these problems, we held further discussions with the village to find ways and solutions,” said Agianto.

This tiered, needs-based approach provides space for village women to actively learn, improve their skills, and rediscover their potential. Sustainable impact is one of the program’s strengths, ensuring that it not only provides short-term knowledge but also fosters new mindsets and skills that can be utilized long-term.

Agianto hopes that through the “BUNGAS Women’s School,” more women will grow into empowered, confident individuals capable of contributing to their families and surrounding communities. This spirit of continuous development is what they hope to instill in the community, reflecting the values of service upheld by ULM.

“We are planning to continue and develop this program. The existing program will serve as a foundation and guide for further development based on the needs and problems in the village, to be followed up by the next generation and groups,” said Agianto.

This dual achievement in the 2025 Student Organizations Program further strengthens ULM’s position as a consistent and progressive university in promoting the quality of community service activities. ULM is committed to continuously presenting empowerment programs that have a broad impact, are relevant, and address the needs of grassroots communities.

With a spirit of collaboration and innovation, ULM affirms its commitment to continuing its tradition of achievement while strengthening its tangible contribution to community progress.
