ULM Medical Students Hold Free Health Check-Ups at Car Free Day (CFD) Banjarmasin
Banjarmasin – The Undergraduate Medical Student Association of the Faculty of Medicine (HIMA PSKPS FKIK ULM) held a Healthy Sunday Morning (HSM) event at the Banjarmasin Car Free Day (CFD) area on Sunday (December 7, 2025). This event demonstrated ULM’s commitment to providing healthcare services to the community through free health check-ups.
For this event, ULM increased its service capacity by increasing the number of check-ups to around 80-90 people. This decision was made due to the increasing number of visitors each week.
“Today we are providing a larger quota than before. We are very welcoming to anyone who wants to have their health checked for free,” said M. Cikal Rayhan Putra Nada, a ULM FKIK student on duty in the field.
The community’s enthusiasm was evident from the morning. Even before the booth opened, residents were already inquiring about service times and preparing to be tested.
“Thank God, the community was very enthusiastic. While we were still preparing the equipment, many people had already come and asked if the examinations could begin,” added Cikal.
As part of the learning process, this activity also involved freshman students who served as volunteers. They went through a selection process and received basic skills training before going directly into the field. This step is one way for ULM to provide practical experience to students, while also strengthening the university’s role in supporting public health. The Student Association of Medical Students (HIMA PSKPS FKIK ULM) plans to continue holding HSM activities as part of its community service program.
“God willing, we will continue to do this regularly. As long as we have support, materials, and equipment, we will continue to carry out this activity sustainably,” said Cikal.
Through this program, ULM, through its students, reaffirms its contribution to promoting public health while providing a real-life learning space for medical students to hone their skills and social empathy.
