ULM Master of Management Workshop Discusses Strategies for Developing International Research Presentations

BANJARMASIN – The Master of Management (MM) Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), held a workshop titled “From Research to Presentation: How to Communicate Your Study Effectively in International Conferences” at the Lecture Theater of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) ULM on Saturday (November 22, 2025).

This workshop was attended by Master of Management students and lecturers who wanted to strengthen their skills in developing and delivering scientific presentations in English at international conferences. The workshop focused on developing logical, coherent, and engaging research narratives for a global audience.

The workshop was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FEB ULM, Dr. Muzdalifah, SE, M.Si., who in her remarks emphasized the importance of academic communication skills for the academic community. She stated that good research results need to be presented clearly and convincingly to have a broader impact, not only locally but also internationally.

The Coordinator of the Master of Management Study Program, Dr. Meiske Claudia, SE, MM, also delivered the opening remarks, explaining that this workshop is part of the study program’s commitment to supporting students’ research and publication capacity. She noted that many high-quality research projects are not optimally presented because researchers lack confidence or are unfamiliar with how to structure presentations in English.

“This activity is designed as a practical learning space for students and lecturers to gain confidence in presenting their research results and to build a strong academic image, both for themselves and for the Faculty of Economics and Business, Lambung Mangkurat University, and specifically for the Master of Management Study Program,” she said.

The workshop featured Erini Junita Sari, BA (Hons), MSc, a lecturer and public speaking and academic presentation mentor, as a resource person. In her presentation, she discussed practical steps in preparing a presentation, from formulating the main objective, simplifying key messages, selecting effective visuals, to opening and closing techniques to make a strong impression on a panel of judges and international reviewers.

Erini also shared various examples of presentation structures commonly used in international conferences, including how to explain the background, objectives, methodology, results, and implications of research concisely yet academically. Participants were encouraged to practice developing their own research storylines and present them briefly for immediate feedback.

The workshop was moderated by Dr. Wimby Wandary, SE, MM, a lecturer in the Master of Management program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (FEB ULM). The discussion was interactive, with many questions from participants about techniques for answering panel questions, overcoming nervousness during presentations, and tips for adapting language and communication styles to diverse international audiences.

Through this activity, the Master of Management Program at FEB ULM hopes that students will be better prepared to participate in international conferences and be able to present their research results with confidence. This workshop also serves as a strategic step to support the improvement of the quality of publications and the study program’s academic visibility at the global level.
