Tenoculture 2025: Real Action for Mangrove Conservation in Rehabilitation — One Action for the Coast

Takisung — The Aquaculture Student Association (HIMAKUA) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) demonstrated its commitment to coastal environmental preservation through the Tenoculture 7.0 activity held on Thursday (10/30/2025). The theme of the activity was “Real Action for Mangrove Conservation in Rehabilitation: One Action for the Coast.”

The activity was held on the coast of Takisung Village, Tanah Laut Regency, and was attended by students, local residents, and village officials who participated in mangrove planting and beach cleanups. This activity demonstrated the students’ commitment to the preservation of coastal ecosystems, which play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance and supporting the sustainability of fisheries resources.

The event began with remarks from Siti Patimah, the person in charge of the activity, who expressed her gratitude for the success of this activity.

“Through this activity, we want to encourage the community to work together to protect and preserve the coastal environment. Mangroves are not just trees, but natural barriers that protect our lives from abrasion and support the sustainability of the fisheries ecosystem,” said Siti Patimah.

The next remarks were delivered by M. Iqro Nur Amin, the Chair of the Organizing Committee, who stated that this activity was the result of the collaboration and collective spirit of the entire committee.

“Preparations for this activity are inseparable from the cooperation of all parties, both students and the community. We want to demonstrate that aquaculture students not only learn in the classroom but also directly contribute to the environment,” explained Iqro.

Then, Ahmad Solihin, the Chair of HIMAKUA ULM, expressed his appreciation to all members involved and emphasized the importance of continuing activities like this.

“I am very proud of the enthusiasm of my HIMAKUA colleagues who continue to innovate and care about environmental issues. This activity is clear evidence that aquaculture students are capable of being agents of change in protecting coastal ecosystems,” said Ahmad Solihin.

Daffa Raihan, Deputy Chair of Tenoculture, emphasized the important role of the younger generation in protecting the environment. He stated that students should be pioneers of change, starting with small actions like planting mangroves and cleaning beaches. Daffa believes that these small actions can have a big impact if carried out sustainably and collaboratively.

This activity also received appreciation from Siswanto, S.Pi., M.P., the Supervising Lecturer of HIMAKUA ULM, who expressed his support for field activities like this.

“The students’ initiative in holding environmentally-based activities is worthy of appreciation. In addition to providing ecological benefits, this activity also provides a hands-on learning platform for students to apply aquaculture knowledge in the real world,” said Siswanto.

Furthermore, the activity received a warm welcome from the Takisung Village Head, who welcomed the collaboration between students and the community.

“We are very grateful to the ULM students who have contributed to our village. We hope this activity can be the beginning of a sustainable collaboration in protecting the Takisung coastline,” said the Village Head in his remarks.

The series of activities ran smoothly and with great enthusiasm. Students and residents worked together to plant mangrove seedlings along the coastline and clean up the coastal area of plastic waste. A sense of togetherness and a spirit of mutual cooperation were felt throughout the event.

Through this activity, HIMAKUA ULM hopes to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining coastal ecosystems as part of environmental conservation efforts and improving the well-being of coastal communities.
