ULM Holds National Quran Seminar, Encouraging Generation Z to Become Pillars of a Golden Indonesia 2045
Banjarmasin – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to grounding the values of the Quran in the university environment. As part of the 2025 National Student Quran Recitation Competition (MTQMN), ULM held a National Quran Seminar with the theme “Quranic Generation, Golden Generation: Inspiring Gen Z Towards Indonesia 2045” at the Swiss-Belhotel Banjarmasin on Wednesday (October 8, 2025).
The event featured three national speakers: Prof. Dr. Mujiburrahman, M.A. (Rector of UIN Antasari Banjarmasin), Prof. Dr. K.H. Said Agil Husin Al-Munawar, M.A. (Professor of Tafsir, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta), and Dr. Drs. Zainuddin, M.Pd. (Lecturer and character education observer).
The seminar opened with a recitation of the Quran and madihin by two traditional Banjar artists, Syahril and Fadhil, who successfully lightened the mood with meaningful and humorous religious verses.
In his remarks, the Chairperson of the MTQMN XVIII 2025 Committee, Dr. Rusdi, M.Pd.I, stated that this seminar served as a platform to broaden knowledge and inspire the younger generation to continue contributing to the nation with Quranic values.
“We need to learn from experts to become as great as they are. Through this forum, students are expected to absorb knowledge, discuss, and deepen their understanding of the role of the Quran in modern life,” he said.
The event also featured the Jukung Barenteng Dance, which embodies the spirit of mutual cooperation and unity of the Banjar people. Barenteng means “tying or uniting a boat,” a symbol of collaboration and harmony, in line with the spirit of Indonesia Emas 2045, which was promoted at this seminar.
In his presentation, Prof. K.H. Said Agil Husin Al-Munawar addressed the topic “Integration of Science, Faith, and Civilization: A Quranic Vision Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.” He emphasized the importance of synergy between science and spiritual values ​​in shaping a civilized and ethical civilization.
“The Quran teaches a balance between science and faith. Generation Z must be a generation that is highly knowledgeable but still upholds noble morals,” said the former Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Prof. Mujiburrahman discussed “Local Culture, Creativity, and Religious Moderation,” highlighting how local wisdom can act as a bridge in instilling the values ​​of moderation and tolerance amidst diversity.
Dr. Zainuddin emphasized the importance of internalizing Quranic values ​​in science education as a strategy to build character and spiritual literacy for the younger generation in the digital age.
“Amidst the rapid flow of information, digital literacy must be balanced with moral and spiritual literacy so that students can become an intelligent generation with character,” he said.
Through this national seminar, Lambung Mangkurat University affirms its role not only as host of the 18th MTQMN 2025, but also as a facilitator of Quranic character development among students. This seminar is a concrete manifestation of ULM’s commitment to integrating Islamic values with science and technological advancements toward the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.

This National Quranic Seminar is one of a series of major events for the 18th MTQMN, held at Lambung Mangkurat University from October 5–9, 2025. In addition to the seminar, activities also include various Quranic reading and comprehension competitions, a grand religious gathering, and a closing night (Haflah) where the winners will be announced.
By carrying the spirit of “Quranic Generation for Golden Indonesia”, ULM continues to strive to present an active role in grounding the Qur’an through higher education, strengthening student identity, and fostering a national spirit rooted in Islamic values.
