Afrilina Zahra Wins Most Creative Statistical Agent Award: Proof of ULM Student Innovation
Banjarmasin – Another proud achievement has been achieved by a student from Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM). Afrilina Nur Zahra, a 2023 student from the Statistics Study Program, won the award for Most Creative Statistical Agent from the Statistics Corner. This award is a testament to the ULM students’ passion for developing innovation and creativity in the field of statistical literacy.
Afrilina expressed her gratitude and pride for this achievement.
“Of course, I feel proud and grateful for this appreciation. This award motivates us statistical agents to continue developing and promoting statistical literacy,” she said enthusiastically.
Afrilina’s innovation focuses on utilizing social media as a means of public education. Through her Instagram account @pojokstatistik.ulm, she and her team present a variety of engaging content to introduce the role and benefits of the Statistics Corner to students and the wider community.
“We want the Statistics Corner to be more widely known, especially within the Lambung Mangkurat University environment,” he added.
For Afrilina, this success is inseparable from teamwork and the full support of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). She believes the Statistics Corner plays a strategic role as a bridge between BPS data and the academic community, helping students access, understand, and utilize data for research and scientific studies.
“The Statistics Corner can be a data search center for ULM students. As the saying goes, building is expensive, but building without data is even more expensive,” Afrilina said, emphasizing the importance of data in every development step.
In addition to being active in Statistics Corner activities, Afrilina is also involved in the Free Statistical Data Consultation (Datacon) program, a collaboration between the Statistics Agency and the Statistics Data Bureau (BDS) — a student activity unit in the Statistics Study Program. This activity provides free data consultation services for students, especially in commemoration of National Statistics Day.
Afrilina’s achievements reflect ULM’s commitment to encouraging the development of student interests and talents in various fields. The university continuously strives to create an innovative, collaborative, and inspiring academic environment, enabling every student to make a real contribution to the advancement of science and regional development.
With this spirit, ULM hopes that more students will dare to innovate and achieve, bringing the university’s reputation to the national and international levels—proving that “ULM is Superior, High-Quality, and Globally Competitive” is not just a slogan, but a spirit that lives in every step of its academic community.
