Collaboration between Student Organization Development Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Faculty of Medicine ULM and Nanang Galuh of Banjar Regency: Himung Class Encourages Younger Generation to Love Banjar Culture

Karang Intan – The Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Faculty of Medicine, ULM (FKIK ULM) held its 9th Himung Class on Saturday (September 27, 2025). The event was held at MTs Muhammadiyah Karang Intan and concluded the Himung Class series.
This year’s Himung Class featured the theme “Introduction to Traditional Musical Instruments of South Kalimantan,” and was attended by students from MTs Muhammadiyah Karang Intan. The 9th Himung Class, held in collaboration with Nanang Galuh of Banjar Regency, aimed to introduce the rich culture of South Kalimantan and foster a love for the region’s traditional heritage among the younger generation.
After the official opening, the committee held an icebreaker to lighten the mood and help participants relax. Afterward, the Nanang Galuh of Banjar presented a presentation on traditional musical instruments from South Kalimantan. Beyond presentations, participants also had the opportunity to listen to a live performance of the panting musical instrument, and some students even had the chance to try their hand at playing it.
Furthermore, the committee prepared an educational game session, namely a “chain message” game, which aimed to train memory and team cohesion. Each group of participants was also asked to create a cheer to add enthusiasm and cheer to the event.
Through this 9th Himung Class activity, it is hoped that participants will become more familiar with South Kalimantan culture and be encouraged to participate in preserving it. This way, the younger generation can play an active role in preserving the nation’s cultural heritage so that it remains alive and thriving within the community.
