ULM Encourages Capacity Building of Tatah Masjid Village Business Groups through PDWA Program

Barito Kuala – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), through the Compulsory Lecturer Service Program (PDWA) of the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community empowerment. This time, ULM provided training to women’s business groups in Tatah Masjid Village, Alalak District, Barito Kuala Regency, focusing on strengthening branding, packaging, and business legality.

The PDWA Team Leader and PDWN 2025, Sudirwo, SE., MM., explained that the activity, held in August 2025, was attended by 15 ULM lecturers and was a continuation of the previous year’s program.

“While the previous training focused on making Sasirangan Ecoprint with natural dyes, this year we are emphasizing branding strategies and product packaging to make them more attractive, while also assisting business groups in obtaining legal documents to enable them to penetrate the modern market,” he explained.

The program was enthusiastically received by the community. A total of 50 village residents participated in the training, most of whom were Sasirangan tailors. Through this activity, they are expected to not only serve as recipients of sewing services but also be able to produce and market their own creations independently.

The Head of Tatah Masjid Village, H. Mari Apriansyah, expressed his appreciation for ULM’s contribution.

“We are very grateful for this program. ULM’s presence motivates residents to maximize their potential, especially in developing Sasirangan products,” he said.

One of the participating residents, Meri, added that this training provides new hope for small business owners in her village.

“Hundreds of our residents are Sasirangan tailors. With this training from ULM, we hope they can move up a level, no longer just sewing, but also producing and selling complete Sasirangan,” she said.

Through PDWA, ULM emphasizes its role as a university that focuses not only on education and research, but also on providing real solutions to strengthen the local economy.
