Banjarbaru – Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), through its Educational Technology Study Program, held a training on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for teachers in Banjarbaru City. This activity was held on Friday (June 20, 2025) as part of the Compulsory Lecturer Service Program (PDWA) in collaboration with the Muhammadiyah Teachers Forum (FGM) Banjarbaru and was attended by dozens of Muhammadiyah Elementary School teachers.

The ULM PDWA team involved consisted of Dr. Susanti Sufyadi, S.Pd., M.A., Sulistyo Rini, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Lazaro Kumala Dewi, M.Pd., accompanied by two students, Annida Zulfa and Wildan Tamami. They equipped participants with basic skills in applying AI to address learning challenges in the era of digital transformation while supporting government policies regarding the digitalization of education.

Dr. Susanti Sufyadi explained the policy for utilizing AI in learning at the elementary and secondary levels. Meanwhile, Sulistyo Rini and Lazaro Kumala Dewi provided inspiration for AI-based learning practices that teachers can directly implement in the classroom.

Hendra, M.Pd., Head of the Banjarbaru FGM (FGM Banjarbaru), stated that this training was a starting point for Muhammadiyah teachers to adapt to cutting-edge technology.

“This training is a gateway for Muhammadiyah teachers to become familiar with AI technology, so they can present lessons that are relevant to current developments,” he said.

The training materials included an introduction to basic AI concepts, safe internet practices, and artificial intelligence-based learning simulations. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the session, especially for teachers who were learning about AI concepts in an educational context for the first time.

Through this activity, ULM affirmed its commitment to supporting teacher competency development in Banjarbaru. With the knowledge gained, educators are expected to become more adaptive, creative, and technologically literate in facing the demands of the digital era.
